Circuit of the Americas & F1 Racing Present:
Shift Into Style
I am so excited that Speak Social is once again on the scene during this year’s Austin Fashion Week. Local Austin designer Linda Asaf secured this year’s new and very exciting sponsor – Formula 1 Racing and the Circuit of the Americas. This brought a new level of class to the event, as did the many F1 VIPs who were in attendance.
Austin looks to up its prestige starting in November, when the first U.S. F1 track holds its opening race just outside of downtown. The Austin community buzz is growing about the glamour and style coming to town with the F1 followers, leading to F1 being the perfect VIP sponsor.
The Bob Bullock Texas History Museum offered a dazzling venue for the opening event. The night included three fashion shows, free drinks and a silent auction.
It’s always a pleasure to see Theresa Kopecky of Tess Designs, one of the many talented Austin designers showing her collection during Austin Fashion Week. She’s presenting her styles again at the Driskill tonight if you have a chance to catch her show. Theresa, despite being in only her second year, has made quite a splash in Austin already.
No Austin event is ever complete without seeing superstar photographer Shelley Neuman of ATX Street Style.
Shelley is a wonderful street-style photographer and blogger, loved by her fans. Have I mentioned how short she makes me feel?
Then there’s the beautiful Shannon Yoachum, Editor-at-Large of LOLO Magazine, which she started with her good friend Lauren Scruggs.
The first runway show was beautiful with evening-wear from the Danes that was striking and elegant. The second show included Austin’s menswear line Keepers.
For coverage and photos of all the looks, I recommend following Cheryl Bemis’ of Fashionably Austin. Cheryl created a true fashion institution in Austin. You can find her coverage here.
The big finale featured Austin’s own celebrity designer Ross Bennett, who designed the outfits that will be worn by the COTA girls at the upcoming F1 races.
Last but not least, Edie Henry with the lady of the hour: Linda Asaf. Linda arranged all the partnership with Circuit of the Americas and also held a fashion show just for VIPs, which Edie also styled.
All-in-all, it was a magical evening, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this fashion week holds.
