No, I’m not talking about you, nice lady that shares articles she likes … I’m talking about YOU! Yes you Mr. Spamtastic. You know what I don’t get about you? There is absolutely no way on God’s green earth that your methods of batching and blasting tweets has ever paid-off for you. Yet, you plug along, with your bot-like-finding of Social Media blogs, automated copying the text, and auto-blasting it out on Twitter and other Social channels.
Is this what Social Media has come to? Is it so necessary that some of you panic and decide to automate the hell out of your marketing?
Before you get all defensive, I must say that I too use tools that some would consider automation. We schedule tweets and messaging for our clients at Speak Social. Scheduled messaging is an absolute necessity, and part of every effective Social Media campaign. Trust me, this is not aimed at you Hootsuiters out there. You are all good in my book.
Have you ever Twitter-searched the title of a blog you published? Go ahead, do that now … search for this blog title in fact. What you will find is a sea of words, all the same, direct from Skynet (if you don’t know what Skynet is, Google it). Pull feed, automate tweet, send out post, rinse and repeat. Seldom will you find someone who has added his or her own original thoughts or ideas. It is a sea of automated tweets that all look the same.
Why did I write this blog? First, I did it just to spite the spammers out there who will share this out the same way that they share everything. Except this time, there will be my glorious title: I Hate How You Shared This Blog.
My other reason for writing this blog is to deter those of you who have not yet gone to the Dark Side (you should not have to Google that).
Create. Don’t spam.
